The Blue Blob project
is an interactive art project that inspires creativity and attempts to reach
a wide public audience. The project provides a free ball of blue plasticine
packaged with instructions, asking anyone interested to try their hand at
creating their own miniature blue sculpture. On the front of is a photograph
is featuring someone's sculpture from the previous month. This photograph is
updated each month and is featured not only as an example, but as a
possiblity for all participating to become next month's feature. Through
this simple idea the project encourages creativity and inspires artistic
thought.
A key feature of this
project is not only the form created with plasticine, but the location in
which the sculpture has been photographed. The project is geared to
exploring the colour blue's interaction with different environments and with
that in mind many who have already participated have developed interesting
locations and reactions to the concept. Once photographs have been received
I upload and feature them on the current Myspace profile site for all to
view, these photographs don’t end there. These received photographs become
inspiration for sculptures made with an abstraction of scale.
These sculptures not
only explore scale, but medias and techniques in comparison to the original
received photographic resources. They also go towards promoting the project
through a promotional film and the merchandising of reproductions.
