My pictures are in pencil and acrylic wash.
They are stylised, illustrative and always feature the human figure. I enjoy
the subtlety and nuances gained from laying wash over wash of acrylic
colour. I also produce finely detailed pencil drawings.
My ideas are gleaned from a wide variety of story-telling sources - from
Icelandic sagas, from Chaucer and Mallory, from Grimm and Andersen. These
stories contain strange and wonderful imagery, which is what I try to
capture in my work. The accompanying image is 'The Seven Ravens' from a tale
by Hans Andersen.
